How to delete pages from a PDF
- Identify the pages to drop
Scroll the thumbnail strip in the reader - blank and duplicated pages are obvious there in a way they are not in a page-by-page read.
- List them
Single pages and ranges, separated by commas.
- Delete
The result contains every page you did not name, in its original order.
- Check the length
The result panel states how many pages went and how many remain. If that arithmetic surprises you, check your ranges before you keep the file.
Why this matters for exam and study documents
Scanners produce a blank page for every unprinted back of a sheet. On a 40-page double-sided scan that is 20 empty pages to scroll past. Deleting them halves the document before you start revising from it.
What is kept, what changes, and what this will not do
Page operations copy content rather than re-rendering it, so nothing here costs quality. What changes is which pages exist and where they sit - and the numbering printed on them stops matching.
Kept
- Every remaining page, unchanged
- The original order of the pages that stay
Changed
- Page count and therefore page numbering
- Links and bookmarks pointing at removed pages
- Any printed page numbers on the surviving pages now disagree with their position
Limits
- You cannot delete every page; at least one has to remain.

Can I get a deleted page back?
Not from the result - it does not contain that page. Keep the original until you are sure, which takes about ten seconds of checking.
How do I find blank pages quickly?
Open the file in the reader and look at the thumbnails. A blank page reads as an empty white rectangle and is impossible to miss at that scale.
Does deleting pages make the file smaller?
Usually, but not always in proportion. Fonts and images shared across the document stay embedded. Run Compress PDF afterwards if size is the goal.
