How to rotate pages in a PDF
- See which way the page is facing
Open the document in the reader. A landscape scan usually needs 90 degrees; a page fed into the scanner the wrong way round needs 180.
- Choose the angle and the pages
Leave the page field empty to rotate the whole document, or name only the pages that are wrong.
- Rotate and confirm
Open the result. If a page went the wrong way, rotate that page by 180 rather than starting again.
Why this matters for exam and study documents
Data-response papers often carry one landscape page of graphs in an otherwise portrait booklet. Rotating just that page means you can read the whole document without turning your head or your laptop.
What is kept, what changes, and what this will not do
Page operations copy content rather than re-rendering it, so nothing here costs quality. What changes is which pages exist and where they sit - and the numbering printed on them stops matching.

- The stored orientation of the rotated pages
- Which edge is long and which is short, for printing purposes
Limits
- Rotation is in multiples of 90 degrees. A page scanned at a slight angle is a different problem, and cropping or rescanning fixes it.
Questions and answers
Why does my reader's rotate button not stick?
Because it is a view setting, not a change to the document. It applies to your window only and is discarded when you close the file. This tool writes the rotation into the PDF, so every reader and every printer sees it.
Does rotating lose quality?
No. The rotation is a property of the page, not a transformation of its contents. Nothing is redrawn.
Can I rotate only the landscape pages?
Name them individually. There is no automatic detection here, because a page can be landscape by design and rotating it would be wrong.
